2. Summary

  • Your progress, your game in progress and your settings stay on your device. We do not receive them.
  • The app sends no game data to anyone. Your records are yours alone, stored on the headset. If cloud backup is on for your Meta account, the headset system keeps an encrypted copy of this data in your account (section 3).
  • The app uses the Meta platform only to confirm that you own the app.
  • The mixed reality view (passthrough) and hand, controller and head tracking are used in real time only, so you can play. The app does not record or send any of it.
  • No ads. No selling of data. No account of our own. No server of our own. No analytics tools.

3. Data that stays on your device

The app stores on the headset itself:

  • Progress: records per level (best time, best score, wins and mistake-free games), win counters per mode, number of days with a win, Daily challenge streak, the dates (day only) of your last win and your last Daily challenge, your bonsai garden (species, growth, blossoms, saved pouches, Collection, and the start and completion dates of each tree) and a random number that generates your bonsai trees.
  • Game in progress: the puzzle, the digits and notes you placed, the time, mistakes and hints used, so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Settings: language, music and sound on/off, playing hand (right or left), board theme, space (mixed reality or Loft) and board size.

This data does not identify you, is not sent off the device by the app and never reaches us. On the device, it is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data in the headset settings.

Cloud backup: if cloud backup is on for your Meta account, the headset system keeps an encrypted copy of this data on Meta's servers, so you can restore it when you reinstall the app or switch headsets. We have no access to that copy. You can turn backup off in the headset settings and delete the copies on your Meta account's backups page.

4. Purchase check through the Meta platform

Kyu Sudoku is distributed through the Meta Horizon Store. When it starts, the app asks the Meta platform whether your account is entitled to use the app. The headset system answers, based on your Meta account. The check also works offline.

The app only receives the answer ("entitled" or "not entitled"). It does not receive your account identifier, your name or your payment details. If Meta reports that there is no purchase, the app shows a notice and closes.

Buying, installing and using apps on the store and the headset are handled by Meta under its own policies: Supplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Privacy Policy.

5. Sensors and mixed reality

  • Passthrough (mixed reality): the view of your surroundings is composed by the headset system. The app has no access to camera images and does not record, store or send images of your surroundings.
  • Hands, controllers and head: the position of your hands, controllers and head is used in real time so you can touch the board, the buttons and the tray, and to place the board and the Loft in front of you. This data is not stored or sent by the app.
  • What the app does not use: microphone, camera access, location, room or furniture mapping, spatial anchors, eye, face or body tracking.
